"ARABER TANZ, my inadequate tefillin" is a performance developed in the context of a 6 months workshop co-led by professor Raphaëlle Doyon and dancer Biño Sauitzvy, in which I explored the concept of inadequacy in Judaïsm in link to BDSM practices. 

The use of Klezmer and of a melodica, instrument easily transportable and developed in the 1950's to play a nigun known as "The Araber Tanz" is a form of protest against the state of Israël as well as a revendication of Yiddish and a permanent state of exile. 

"VU IS BESSIE?" 

My current project involves puppetry and the use of archives. As a YIVO research fellow, I have access to some of the MODICUT archives, a Yiddish Puppetry theatre in place from 1925 to 1933. 

In the 1930's, Zuni Maud, Yosl Cutler and Bessie Maud went on tour with their puppetry theatre in former URSS. Yet, the work of Bessie (the only woman of the group) has been completely erased from history. 

My project is to find her traces in the archives and to tell her story through their media: puppetry.
